If life is a journey, then it means we are coming from somewhere and going somewhere. We came from the spiritual domain, we currently exist in the natural realm, and we are journeying into the supernatural realm. This divine order explains the triune nature of man: spirit, body, and soul. The spirit represents our spiritual origin, the body functions in the natural realm, and the soul is the realm we are ultimately journeying into.
This truth is emphasized in Scripture, where Jesus asked, “What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?” (Matthew 16:26; Mark 8:36). Notably, the emphasis is not placed on the loss of the body or the spirit, but on the soul—revealing the eternal significance of the destination of our journey.
